dramatic play

...............

Children who engage in dramatic play are learning to role play, problem solve, resolve conflicts, be creative and use their imagination. These skills are important to children as they are developing an awareness of self in relation to others and about the environment around them. The dramatic play area encourages children to explore other cultures, lifestyles, occupations and ways of life different from their own experience. This allows children to gain an acceptance of those who are not like them in many ways as well as appearance. This area also lends itself to discovering the difference between reality and fantasy. We are currently in a time where video games and television programing are not depicting real life situations and this often times is somewhat confusing. Differentiating between real and fantasy is a skill children are beginning to have to learn.
